In Rockville, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in Maryland, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 12β7 pm. Rockville is in Maryland, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Rockville follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This was my first visit, and unfortunately it will also be my last. Customer service was practically nonexistent. I counted around five employees in the store, yet not a single person greeted us or asked if we needed help during the 15 minutes we spent walking around. It felt like customers were an inconvenience rather than a priority. I also noticed several fish that appeared to be visibly sick or infected in multiple tanks, with healthy fish housed alongside them. That was very concerning to see. On top of that, many of the prices didnβt seem to match the fish sizes. When I finally asked the employee at the front desk for assistance, he seemed bothered to have to get off his phone to help us. When I questioned whether a fish was actually 12 inches as labeled, his response was simply, βWell, itβs the only sticker here, so it has to be the price.β There was no effort to verify the information or provide helpful customer service. Overall, the fish seemed overpriced, the staff was uninterested in helping customers, and the overall atmosphere just felt off. I wonβt be returning.

I came into the store today after shopping there for over 15 plus years. There was two sales reps on the floor. A pleasant young lady who was. Busy helping another customer. I was told to ask the gentleman on the other side of the store to help me. He told me he was busy with a water change and cannot stop. He can help on ten to fifteen minutes and I should ask someone else on the floor. However, there was no other employee on the floor. I waited for the young lady to complete her transition to get some assistance. She test my water and left. I waited about five minutes and another employee Whois very knowledgeable and has help me before came and completed the testing. I left very disappointed and felt the need to take my business elsewhere. I brought a 40 gallon tank and everything the store recommended without question, but today I left with many questions.

The poor quality of the fish at this store has wasted a large quantity of my money over 3 disasters that were the fault of poor quality fish. Let me explain, I've been keeping fish in my 20 gallon tank since 2020 and had zero fatalities keeping cherry barbs, corydoras, and guppies over the course of 3 years until 2023. Then I made the terrible mistake to shop here. The first incident was when I bought three guppies here. At that time my tank had 3 guppies, 6 cherry barbs, and 6 corydoras all bought from a different store. Upon buying these three new guppies from this store however the other three in my tank along with these new ones died a week later. After testing my water I determined it was likely an unfortunate parasite infection. However I couldn't get a refund because it happened over the course of a week and the location was a half hour drive. Then the second time I needed to replace my now dead guppies I went there again and got 6 neon tetras. Once again a week after buying these guys they were all dead, while my other fish thrived and were actually breeding inside the tank (a strong indicator of a healthy environment). Finally I went back this last time and got the hardier

Great selection but many times when weβve gone there the staff straight up ignores you. Iβve literally asked for help straight to an employeeβs face, they stop making eye contact and walk another direction. Last time I was here the staff was all grouped together talking and they all collectively ignored me and donβt look at me and then argued amongst themselves as to who would help me. They finally decided it would be none of them and got the person from the shrimp station to help us with some reef fish. Once helped he was very friendly. Just a weird and off putting experience. We spent about $200 that day but almost walked out.
